Bio of the speaker:
Macarena Plaza Vela is Head of International Corporate Development and Legal Innovation at IE Law School, where she partners with law firms and international corporations to build strategic alliances and foster growth. Her work focuses on driving innovation in the legal sector, particularly at the intersection of law, business, and technology. She holds a Law degree from ICADE, an LL.M. in International Law from the London School of Economics (2004), and a Master in Digital Business from ISDI (2015). Before specializing in legal innovation, she practiced as a litigator for 16 years, focusing on international arbitration and complex dispute resolution. She has also taught International Arbitration at IE Law School. Beyond her role at IE, she serves on the academic committee of the International Bar Association (IBA) and the talent committee of the Corporate Legal Operations Consortium (CLOC).
